HWDSB and IEC Hamilton unite to help students find the best fit for their educational goals

Hundreds of students, parents and guardians are expected at Michelangelo’s Banquet Centre Wednesday, Oct. 26 as the fourth annual Pathways Information Night showcases the wide variety of great programs at Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB).

The HWDSB event – presented in co-operation with the Industry-Education Council of Hamilton (IEC Hamilton) – will help students in grades 7 to 12 find programs and opportunities that move them toward their goals. It features the many programs at HWDSB secondary schools and the many ways to learn, including self-directed, experiential and co-op programs. New this year, students will be able to explore opportunities to earn volunteer hours with our community partners.

“We want every student to find the right fit for their education – and our Pathways night is really about inviting our community to explore possibilities,” said Peter Joshua, Executive Superintendent of Leadership and Learning. “We have so much to offer and want everyone to know about our opportunities.”

Some of the programs and ways of learning on hand will include Specialist High Skills Majors, Experiential Learning, System Co-op, Dual Credits, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, English as a Second Language, French Immersion, Special Education and E-Learning.

In its fourth year, the event welcomes the support of IEC Hamilton.

“As an organization, the IEC of Hamilton believes in providing youth and their parents career relevant information that can be used to make effective educational decisions,” said Cesare Di Donato, Executive Director of IEC Hamilton. “We are proud to assist HWDSB by providing support that will enable them to effectively showcase the great programs offered in their schools.”
