HWDSB and OCTU reach tentative agreement

Hamilton, ON – January 7, 2016: Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Office, Clerical and Technical Unit (OCTU) of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation District 21 Teachers’ Unit, reached a tentative local agreement last evening after extensive bargaining.

“This is great news that we have reached another local agreement. Through positive conversations, we are demonstrating our changing culture, leading to stronger relationships with our staff groups.” Board Chair Todd White said.

“We are pleased that through a lengthy negotiations process the Office Clerical and Technical Unit has reached a settlement with the HWDSB. We appreciate that discussions remained focused and positive to achieve meaningful local gains,” said Samantha Wilson, OCTU President.

No details of the tentative deal are being made public until the agreement is ratified by OCTU members and the Board.

A central agreement at the provincial level was reached in late November.

At HWDSB, OCTU represents school and board based office, clerical and technical employees.
