Adelaide Hoodless Welcomes Ontario Dental Program Announcement

healthy smilesAdelaide Hoodless Elementary School welcomed some special guests April 27 when MPP Ted McMeekin arrived to announce changes to Ontario’s subsidized dental care.

More than 323,000 children and youth from low-income families are getting free dental care through the new Healthy Smiles Ontario program. Under the expanded program, Ontario is providing free dental care to help Hamilton area families raise healthier kids. Children from low-income families can access free preventive, routine, emergency and essential care from licensed dental providers.

Applicants can sign up for this program at www.ontario.ca/healthysmiles and can also contact their local public health unit for information and support.

On hand for the announcement were HWDSB Board Chair Todd White, HWCDSB Board Chair Patrick Daly, Adelaide Hoodless student ambassadors, Hamilton Public Health Director of Clinical and Preventative Services Glenda McArthur and Dr. Victor Kutcher, President of the Ontario Dental Association.
