Bennetto Elementary School
Bennetto Elementary School is located on Simcoe Street in the north end of Hamilton Ontario. With the closure of the old Bennetto School in June 2002, students from the Middle School joined with students from Centennial School JK-5. The exciting venture produced a JK-8 school with over 780 students and 46 staff members. Centennial School needed to be renovated in order to handle the increase in student population. A new wing was built to service the Middle School students, and in the Fall of 2003 a new era of Bennetto School began.
Bennetto is the hub of the
community and operates in collaboration with a number of community agencies.
The North Hamilton Community Centre provides essential medical care and referral
services for our families. With an increasing ESL population there is a need
for support for families new to Canada. SISO, (Settlement and Integration Services
Organization) provides this support and provides Bennetto with settlement workers
(SWISH) that work in our school with families in our community. It is a diverse
community with families from all over the world making their home in the Bennetto
community.
Bennetto Students from Around the World
Our church groups in our community have been very supportive. St Luke's Parish Hall along with the North Hamilton Community Centre, hosts a breakfast club every morning for students in order to help them begin their day with a nutritious breakfast. The Welcome Inn Community Centre offers a variety of youth programs designed for fun and positive social interaction.
The Bennetto Recreational Centre is located just down the street and offers a wide range of regular and subsidized programs for our students.
