HOCKEY: Waterdown ‘three-peat’ at girls championship

2017-18 Girls Hockey Champions: Waterdown WarriorsHAMILTON (February 28, 2018) – The Waterdown Warriors collected their third consecutive Hamilton public school girls hockey championship on Wednesday at Chedoke Twin Pad Arena doubling the Ancaster Royals 4-2.

Waterdown’s Andrea Seguin notched two first period goals to help guide the Warriors to the victory. Eliza Konialian scored the game-winning goal in the third period while Erin Gibbons added a goal late to seal the game.

Mackenzie Lauretti also had two helpers in the game assisting on Seguin’s two goals.

Ancaster’s Keianna Raitt scored both of the Royals goals with Erika Ehrenberg earning the lone assist on both goals.

This was Waterdown’s fourth consecutive appearance in the girl’s hockey final and the seventh time the school has finished the season as league champion.

With the city championship now complete, both teams will represent Hamilton public and advance to the Southern Ontario Secondary School Association (SOSSA) ‘AAA’ girls hockey championship slated for Tuesday (March 6). The event is hosted by Waterdown District High School and will be contested at North Wentworth Arena. For more information on that event visit www.sossa.on.ca
