Featured Athlete of the Week – Amy Stinson – Westdale

Amy Stinson is a grade ten athlete who shows a dedication and work ethic much beyond her years. Her experience as a Transway basketball player has helped her earn a starting position on the senior girls basketball team since grade 9. She was an integral part of  Westdale’s recent city championship win – scoring from beyond the arc as well as driving to the basket,  and shutting down top opponents on the other team. She is also a starter for junior volleyball this year as left-side player and has already established herself as a leader, demonstrating that she is an incredible teammate and has much patience with less experienced players. Despite her busy extra-curricular schedule, her dedication to all tasks she completes carries over into the classroom where she excels in enhanced classes and challenges herself and others daily in fitness. Her drive to succeed and love of athletics are a powerful combination. Westdale is very lucky to have Amy as such an incredible role-model and we are excited to see what else she accomplishes in the future.
