SOCCER-G: Bosveld leads HDCH to girls soccer title

2016-17 Girls Soccer ChampionshipHAMILTON (May 19, 2017) – Hamilton District Christian High school collected their fourth overall HWIAC girls soccer championship on Friday topping Guido de Bres 4-3 at Heritage Green Sports Park.

Lindsay Bosveld led the way for HDCH providing all four goals in a thrilling contest between the two single “A” schools. Guido countered with Cherilyn Yeboah who had two goals in the loss while Marya Woudenberg had the other goal.

The victory was HDCH’s fourth girl’s soccer title and first since the 2013-14 season. That year they also bested Guido de Bres in the championship final (2-1). Last year they finished as runner-up to champion Westdale.

HDCH now advances to the Southern Ontario Secondary School Association (SOSSA) championship hosted next week.

On Tuesday, Westdale and Ancaster will play a challenge game for the right to represent Hamilton at the “AAA” SOSSA championship. Nora Frances Henderson will battle Glendale in a “AA” challenge game as well. Check www.hwdsb.on.ca/athletics for full details.

In the Girls Division-II championship, Dundas Valley defeated Orchard Park 2-1 to claim the top position. Heidi Lasica and Alyson Sober scored for the Gryphons while Shantel DaSilva netted the lone goal for Orchard Park.
