MacNab back on top again in senior football championship

2016-17 Division-I Senior Boys Football: Sir Allan MacNab Lions

[BOX SCORE] HAMILTON (November 16, 2016) – The Sir Allan MacNab Lions are back on top of the Hamilton public school board football league capturing their second championship in three seasons by knocking off the Saltfleet Storm 40-17 on Wednesday at McMaster University.

Down 17-14 at half, Sir Allan MacNab exploded for 26 second half points to earn the school’s fourth championship title since the 2009 season.

MacNab quarterback Quincy Vaughn tossed for two touchdowns and rushed for two others, powering the Lions to the win. Vaughn completed 15 passes on 19 attempts for 214 yards passing. Rahim Ajani Moran was the game’s top rusher tallying 86-yards rushing and added a touchdown.

Markus Allan, Erick Faubert and Jack Moren recorded the other touchdowns in the game for MacNab.

For Saltfleet, Jahmal Burke rushed for two touchdowns and 32-yards. Quarterback Alex Sebben completed six passes on 10 attempts for 90 yards.

This was Sir Allan MacNab’s third straight appearance in the championship game. They finished the year as the second ranked seed posting a 6-1 record losing only to top ranked Westdale (6-1). Last week they got past third ranked Westmount 3-0 in the semifinal game to qualify for the final. Saltfleet finished the regular season 4-3 advancing to the championship with a 19-7 upset victory over Westdale on November 10th.

Sir Allan McNab will now host McKinnon Park in the SOSSA West OFSAA qualifier on Tuesday, November 22nd at Ron Joyce Stadium. Kickoff is at 4:00pm.The winner of the game moves on to the OFSAA Football Festival Independence Bowl vs. the WOSSAA (Western Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association) Champion on November 29th at Tim Horton’s Field.
