Saltfleet topples Westdale for grade 9 boys touch football crown

HAMILTON (September 26, 2016) – The Saltfleet Storm earned a 33-6 win over the Westdale Warriors to collect their second grade 9 boys touch football title at a rain soaked Mohawk Sports Park on Monday.

The Storm posted a perfect 3-0 record in pool play defeating Sir John A. Macdonald (6-0), Westmount (12-0) and Sherwood (12-0). That record pitted them against undefeated Glendale (3-0) in the semifinal which saw Saltfleet win 22-0 before they defeated the Warriors 33-6.

Saltfleet defence was the story of the tournament which saw the Storm surrender just six points all day.

The Storm’s other grade 9 touch football crown came as they defeated Waterdown 22-6 in 2013-14.
