HWDSB announces 2015-16 athletes of the year
HAMILTON (June 30, 2016) – With the end of the school year here, the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board has announced this year’s Athlete of the Year honourees at each of its secondary schools.
Each school along with the three independent schools who compete within the public school sports leagues select a male and female athlete to be recognized annually. The school honours each athlete, but additionally the school board recognizes these athletes at a board event in June.

This year’s Athletes of the Year were recognized on June 10th and were treated to a speaking appearance by Bryan Crawford who played professional football for the CFL’s Toronto Argos and is currently the Senior Director of Operations for Canada Basketball. Crawford is a former Athlete of the Year at HWDSB’s Barton Secondary School and spoke to the student-athletes about his background and how his time at Barton helped him become who he is today.
