SOCCER: Westdale earns boys soccer championship with 3-1 victory

HAMILTON (May 20, 2016) – The Westdale Warriors captured the Hamilton public school boys soccer championship notching a 3-1 victory over Guido de Bres on Friday at Heritage Green Sports Park.

In a closely contested game, the Warriors got two goals from Anand Sergeant with the other Westdale goal coming from Marcus Emery. Jacob Jansema was the lone scorer for Guido de Bres in the game.

The game featured the top two teams from the East and West division. Guido was the top seed in the east with a 6-1-0 record while Westdale was the top school in the western division with a 5-0-2 record.

Westdale advances to the Southern Ontario Secondary School Association (SOSSA) championship next Wednesday. They will represent Hamilton along with Ancaster High School at the ‘AAA’ level while Guido de Bres will be the representative for ‘A’ level. Glendale Secondary will represent Hamilton as the ‘AA’ level.
