Hamilton athletes break records at SOSSA championship

ST. CATHARINES, ONT. (May 19, 2016) – At the SOSSA track championships on Thursday, Hamilton public school athletes broke 10 records.

Leading the charge were Jenna Smith and Brittany Stenekes of Dundas Valley. Jenna Set records in the senior girls 200 metre and 400 metre, while Stenekes made her mark in the 100 metre hurdles an

d long jump. They also combined with teammates Georgia Temush and Sydney Turpin to set the new senior-girls 4×100 metre record.

Alec Purnell also of Dundas Valley set the new junior boys 400 metre record.

Two sprinters, Myles Misener-Daley of Westdale and Cree Bell of Sir Allan McNab set records in the midget boys 100 metre and 200 metre and the junior girls 100 metre and 200 metre respectively.

Next step are the South Regional Championships next week (Thursday) in St. Catharines
