Girls Touch Football Champions – Westmount Wildcats

HAMILTON (October 5, 2015) – The Westmount Wildcats cruised to a 15-0 victory over the Waterdown Warriors earning the girls touch football crown on Monday afternoon at Mohawk Sports Park.

The win marked Westmount’s first ever girls touch football crown having finished as the runner up in 2014-15 and 2012-13

The Wildcats posted a 5-1 record in round-robin play last Friday to qualify for today’s play, then knocked off Glendale SS with a 20-7 win in today’s semifinal to qualify for the championship.

In the other semifinal, Waterdown needed a 4-1 overtime victory to advance over Nora Frances Henderson SS. With the score tied at 1-1, the Warriors scored three straight conversions attempts to put away the Huskies who failed to convert in overtime.

The 2014-15 defending champion Sherwood Saints narrowly missed out on advancing to the semifinals. The Saints secured a 3-1-2 record in east division round robin play but finished just a point shy of Glendale to miss out on the playoffs. Glendale was the second seed from the east while Henderson was ranked as the top seed. In the west, Westmount ranked as the No. 1 seed with Waterdown earning the second seed.
