HAMILTON (February 17, 2015) – Hunter French’s three goal performance helped Saltfleet District High School claim their fourth straight Division-I Girls Hockey title defeating Waterdown District High School 5-0 on Tuesday at Chedoke Twin Pad Arena.

Hunter scored the first two goals of the game and then netted the hat-trick at 8:01 of the third period to put an exclamation mark on the championship win for the Storm. Teammate Paige Arnosti added a goal and two assists including one helper on French’s second goal of the game. Victoria Nacha added the other goal in the win while Kayista Coulter notched the shutout in goal.

This was the sixth straight year Saltfleet has appeared in the Division I championship and it also marks the fourth time in school history they have won the girls title.

Saltfleet finished the regular season as the No. 1 seed with an 8-0-1 record. The advanced to the championship final with a 1-0 win over fourth seeded Ancaster High School last Wednesday (Feb 11).

Both Saltfleet and Waterdown will advance to Southern Ontario Secondary School Association (SOSSA) championship held February 25-26th with a berth into OFSAA on the line. OFSAA hosts its championship final March 9-12 in Ottawa.
