Preliminary playoff schedule set for girls volleyball

HAMILTON (January 29, 2015) – The 2014-15 girls volleyball playoffs kick off February 4th & 5th with preliminary round action scheduled for next Wednesday and Thursday.  The juniors will kick off the action with their games going on Wednesday while the seniors will take centre stage on Thursday.

In junior playoffs, Waterdown DHS will host the defending champion Westdale Warriors in the heated No. 4 vs. No. 5 seed to open the west division preliminary round  on February 4th.  No. 6 Hamilton District Christian HS  travels to meet No. 3 Dundas Valley SS in the other east preliminary game (3:15pm start).

In the east preliminary round No. 6 Sir Winston Churchill SS battles No. 3 Saltfleet DHS  (at Saltfleet) while No. 5 Sir John A. MacDonald visits No. 4 Sherwood SS.  Both east games start at 4:00pm.

Senior playoffs will follow on February 5th with Westdale, Hamilton District Christian HS, Sherwood and Sir Winston Churchill SS earning first round byes.  Eastern match-ups included No. 6 Guideo de Bres Christian HS facing off against No. 3 Orchard Park SS (3:15pm) while No. 5 Glendale SS will travel to No. 4 Saltfleet (3:15pm).  West matches will see No. 6 Westmount take on No. 3 Sir Allan MacNab (3:15pm) and No. 5 Dundas Valley   play No. 4 Waterdown at Waterdown.

All teams will be aiming to claim the HWIAC city championship title.  Last year Westdale dropped Sir Allan MacNab 3-1 in the junior final while George P. Vanier earned a 3-1 victory over Westdale in the junior championship.
