HWIAC all-stars land on top of boys’ volleyball all-star game

Andrew Homes of Ancaster HS was named most valuable player of the annual boys’ volleyball all-start game held last week (Wednesday, Dec. 19) between the Hamilton Wentworth District school board and Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board.

The Hamilton Wentworth Interscholastic Athletic Council (HWIAC) all-stars scored a 3-1 victory before winning a final friendship set which was pre-arranged. Set scores were 25-22, 18-25, 25-19, 25-23, 18-16.

This was the second straight year the HWIAC squad came out on top at the event.

Sherwood SS was well represented at the game with four players playing in the game including Paul Wagner, Callum Darby, Brandon Koklis and setter Liam Redmond.

Holmes led Ancaster’s three player contingent and was joined by teammate Logan Keen and Austin Hampel

Sir Allan MacNab SS, Guido de Brès Christian HS and Westdale SS each had two players compete in the game with MacNab represented by Matt Tripcic and Jacob Dilks. Guido De Brès players were Jason Lof and Joacob Stieva while Westdale’s representatives were Tristan Cortiula and Jason Lin.

Josh Huisman was the lone representative from Hamilton District Christian High School (HDCH).

Calvin Arnold from Sir Winston Churchill SS and Paul Kislinsky of Sir Allan MacNab were the coaching representatives for the HWIAC all-star squad.
