HWDSB is committed to creating innovative learning environments that support student achievement. Accommodation reviews are necessary to address the facility and redevelopment requirements for those schools designated as prohibitive to repair. Reviews are important to make sure we are efficiently using available space to accommodate students as long-term demand for enrolment changes. Schools will be looked at in groups in order to develop recommendations to trustees that make the best use of location, space and programming. Those committees are broken down into the following areas:

Public consultation is at the heart of the accommodation review process. A minimum of four public meetings are to be held by each of the accommodation review committees, as well as a number of additional working meetings. The goal is to engage a wide range of school and community groups to participate in the consultation in order to make the recommendations to trustees. Committee members include principals, teachers, parents and community members. Please check each ARC for details on meetings, reports, recommendations and delegations.

Requests for Administrative Review

Administrative reviews are part of the accommodation review process. An administrative review may be sought if a member of the public feels the process was not compliant with the school board’s accommodation review policy.

The Ministry received two requests for administrative reviews from the 2013/2014 accommodation reviews. The initial request, Board response and Ministry response are posted below:
