ASPS September Reorganization

To our ASPS Families,

Thank you for your support during the 2017-2018 school year start up.  Each year, HWDSB reviews the enrolment numbers for each school across the system to determine where classes need to open and close, due to increasing or declining enrolment. We have been fortunate to have several new families register with us.  As a result of the population changes that have taken place between June and September, it has been determined that we will have to open one additional Grade 8 class.

The good news is that we will be able to significantly reduce the class sizes for our students in the grade 8 English stream. The process of opening a class involves changes to our school’s organization and timetable, as well as changing the homeform of some of our students. We will endeavor to make this transition go as smoothly as possible at the end of next week.

ASPS staff will make every effort to ensure and support student success, as we discuss student moves.  Our mandate is to minimize disruption to program where possible, and to ensure that student learning, friendships and access to support continue at all times. Students moving to the new Grade 8 homeform will be notified next week via their present homeform teacher. Changes to classes and schedules will occur on Friday September 29, 2017. The attached letter went home with students on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017.

Thanking you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work through this process.
