Principal Update Dec 6

Hello,

This is a short week for students,  tomorrow (Fri Dec 7) is a PA Day. While students will have an extra day at home, staff will be focusing on math instruction. One of the resources being utilized is the Fundamentals of Mathematics which the Ministry of Education has a parent guide for. https://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/parents/parent_guide_math_en.pdf

A congratulations to our Boy’s Volleyball team who earned a well deserved silver medal in the City Championship this week. After a busy volleyball season, the basketball teams are starting up. Our Robotics Club is still active and promoting the Canada Learn to Code Week. Many of the coding resources can be access at home, it is a great activity for students to be engaged in outside of school (https://code.org/learn). The lunch Checkers program is also starting.

With so many activities happening around Ancaster Meadow, students are encouraged to listen to the announcements for information. The announcements are also displayed on the TV in the foyer and on the web site.

On Tuesday Dec 11 we are hosting our Kindergarten Holiday concert. We also have a number of students in gr 4-8 heading to Ancaster High and the Wizard of Oz performance. We will also be engaging in a Lockdown drill as part of Safe Schools initiatives. This drill is run in cooperation with Hamilton Police Services.

On Wed Dec 12 students in gr 1-3 are heading to the Wizard of Oz at Ancaster High.

Thurs Dec 13 is our Student Council organized crazy hair and PJ day.

Our Home & School Association is hosting the annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday Dec 14. Any donations of baked goods, pop, and gift cards would be much appreciated and can be dropped off at the Main Office.

Some families may have received letters from Hamilton Public Health indicating that a student may face a suspension due to lack of vaccine information. These letters are generated and administered by Public Health. If a family has a question about the letter they need to follow up with Hamilton Public Health with the phone number on the letter. If the required proof of vaccine is not provided by the date, the school is obligated to enforce the suspension.

I hope students enjoy their long weekend.
