Principal Update Oct 12

Hello,

This week brought some great weather for cross country on Wednesday. We had over 150 students participate! We also have some volleyball and soccer tryouts on the Athletics front. Mathstronauts is starting up as an after school science, math, and computer program in partnership with McMaster. The Robotics club is also starting up again.  There is no shortage of activities for students to become involved in!

Our Home & School organizes pizza and lunch days for families. I want to thank our volunteers for arranging this; many people do not realize the huge amount of time and effort that goes into providing this for families. Ordering for is available for Pizza Mondays on School Cash OnLine with the deadline for ordering being Mon Oct 15th.

Our school has been selected to work on a project funded by the Ministry of Education to help non-verbal students learn to communicate better but also to help teachers and classmates learn to be better communicators.  The project is called Getting All Students Talking: Finding ways to promote communication and literacy with non-verbal students.  We will be showcasing our accomplishments on the TVO: Teach Ontario website where it will be publicly accessible. This is a very exciting project for our school to be involved in. We hope this project will make Ancaster Meadow and your children leaders in accessibility, inclusion and communication.

Just a reminder to parents that supervision starts at 8:45am. Students should not be on the school property before this time. Students are not allowed in the school building without formal supervision. Families needing earlier drop offs need to contact Umbrella Daycare to arrange for before and after care.

On Monday, the Hamilton Fire Department is coming to Ancaster Meadow to present fire safety information to our Kindergarten classes. Grade 8 students have a grad hoodie sizing day on Tuesday. . Our next School Council and Home & School meetings will be Tuesday Oct 23rd at 6:30pm. Photo retake day is Thurs Oct 25th
