Principal Update – Feb 16

Hello,

This week started with our grade 1 classes having a “100 Day” party that celebrated the 100th school day of the year. On Wednesday, our Student Council ran a Valentine’s Day dance for our older students, and the week ended with a ski trip to Glen Eden. Next week, MADD Canada is presenting to our grade 7 and 8 students about the dangers of impaired driving. We also have members of the McMaster Computer Science department coming in to work with some math classes on the connections between math and computer science.

Report Cards came home this week. It is a great opportunity to talk to your child about progress so far this year. If you have any questions, I encourage you to connect with the teacher.

Kindergarten registrations continue for the 2018-2019 school year. Please see Kindergarten registration https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/kindergarten/ for more information. Families can come into the school to complete registrations. The Kindergarten Orientation session will be Thursday May 24th at 4:30pm.

As in past years, Ancaster Meadow is closed to Out of Catchment students. If you are planning on moving, please be aware that your family will have to attend the catchment school for your new address in September. Unfortunately if you move out of the Ancaster Meadow area you must register at the new local school. Please see https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/find/#tabs-112 for more information.

This weekend is Family Day and I hope that all families enjoy the long weekend. Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday. With the holiday, pizza day will be moved to Tuesday February 20th.

Have a fantastic long weekend,

Simon Goodacre, Principal
