Principal Update Nov 24

Hello,

This week’s update has a variety of information from both the school and HWDSB.

Our Home & School Association continues to be very busy. A reminder that pizza orders for the January through March term are due Dec 6th; due to the volume of orders, late orders cannot be accepted.  There is a fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings on Wed Nov 29 from 5 – 10pm where 10% of your bill will go the fundraising of the Home & School Association. Our parent volunteers are also extremely busy preparing for the annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday Dec 8th.

The Ancaster Meadow Student Council has also launched our Winter Clothing drive. Starting on Mon through to Dec 15 please bring in gently used or new winter clothing items to donate to local shelter organizations.  The Student Council sock drive in October was a great success, let’s see if we can match our success with this drive.

As the weather gets colder it is also important that students have appropriate clothing for the weather. Other than extreme weather, students will be outside during recess. Students should have warm coats, hats, and mitts. However with the extra clothing, our Lost and Found is again filling up quickly. It is located outside the gym doors. If you are missing clothing, please check it out. Due to the volume of items, clothing is donated roughly every 6-8 weeks.

Our volleyball teams have been busy in the playoffs. There have been a number of close games. It is great to see the dedication of both our students and coaches. This week we will have students participating in the Ancaster High floorball tournament.

A reminder that Friday Dec 1 is a PA Day and there is no school for students. Our staff professional development that day will primarily focus on early reading skills and math development.
