Principal Update – Sept 22

Hello,

While students enjoyed a shorten week of school this week, the staff at Ancaster Meadow were busy at work on the PA Day. There was some required Health and Safety training covered but the most important focus for staff was looking at student performance in two key areas; staff in Kindergarten and grade 1 were focused on reading and early literacy skills, teachers for grades 2 through 8 were looking at student math performance. Examining student achievement in these areas will be the focus of staff work at staff meetings and PA days.

This coming Monday September 25th, our Home & School Association will be running a Freezie Day. The Home & School Association is also arranging for pizza orders. This is a huge undertaking; orders are due by Oct 2nd and late orders cannot be accepted. Payments should be made through SchoolCash online https://hwdsb.schoolcashonline.com

Extra-curricular activities are gearing up and starting quickly. Both our senior girls’ and boy’s 3-pitch teams had a lot of fun at early tournaments this week. Junior swimming is on the go and volleyball tryouts have started. In addition to sports, our Student Council is starting and looking forward to planning some school events for students this year. Families can allows follow the daily announcements on the school website.

Our Meet the Teacher night is Thurs Oct 5th from 5-7pm. We are looking at having some food trucks on site for families to have an option for dinner. This is a great time to come out and meet your child’s teacher and find out more about the classroom.

The HWDSB is working on a school video surveillance renewal plan. As part of this process, we are asking for your input. Please tell us what you think before the end of October, 2017 by clicking HERE.

Have a great weekend,

Simon Goodacre, Principal
