Check out some of our fantastic “Transitions” activities at Ancaster High School.  We have organized many events with the purpose of welcoming our future students and helping grade 8 students familiarize themselves with Ancaster High School. We believe it is important to make our students feel like “LOYAL ROYALS” even before they get to high school.

Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at Liuna Station, 360 James St. N..  – This is a night where families and students in Grades 7-12 can learn more about the wide range of high school programs and services available in HWDSB.  Information about IB and SHSM Programs will be highlighted.  Pathways Presentation will be held at 6:45, 7:30 and 8:15. Grade 9 Option Night date – TBD – start time is 6:00pm in the Library/Learing Commons (updated location and time)

Parents and students are invited to attend this information night to learn more about the courses offered at Ancaster High School, the levels of courses that students can choose from, and future pathways.  Please meet in the Library/Learning Commons – East Wing – for this presentation by 6:00pm.  We will begin with a short presentation , then break into smaller groups to allow for lots of time for questions.

Grade 9 Option Sheet (distribution at elementary schools)

Ancaster High School guidance counsellors will be visiting our Associate Schools in January to speak with grade 8 students about their course options at Ancaster High.  Students will receive their Option Sheet and Registration Form from their grade 8 teacher.  Parents are asked to have these forms completed and returned to their grade 8 teacher before the end of February.   Student Activity Fees and Yearbook Prepayments can be made through SchoolCashOnline this year!

What has already happened?

 S.T.E.P. Program

The STEP Program is a high school prep program for students who may want some extra support as they prepare for grade 9. Literacy and numeracy skills critical to success in high school are the focus, but preparing for the routines and expectations of high school are also part of the program.  The program will run in the second half of  August. More details of the S.T.E.P. Program are available at current elementary schools in the spring, or call the Red Hill Learning Centre at 905 561 – 2190.

Grade 9 Orientation Day

All new students to Ancaster High School are invited to attend our Orientation Day . Students will meet in the auditorium (West Wing entrance) for 10:00am for a short information presentation on what Ancaster High has for them, then go on a tour of our school. We hope you have a great time and learn where all your classes will be for that first day! The Orientation Event is expected to finish at approximately 11:30.  WELCOME to ANCASTER HIGH!
Parents and Guardians are invited to attend the orientation day and will be offered a tour separate from the students.  If you are unable to attend the Orientation Day, and you are going into grade 9, please report to the auditorium by 8:25am on the first day of school for our grade 9 assembly.
