Grade 9 and 10 – Preparing for IB

  • Students interested in taking the IB Program (grade 11 and 12) are encouraged to take Enriched courses in grade 9 and 10 where possible.
  • Students in grade 9 should contact the IB coordinator or their guidance counsellor to ensure proper preparation has been made for the IB Diploma Program.
  • Grade 9 students are recommended to take:
    • Enriched English and Math
    • Academic French (if French is their option for Group 2 in IB)
    • Academic Science and Geography
    • Visual Art (if Art is their choice for Group 6 in IB)
  • Grade 10 students are required to take:
    • Grade 10 Enriched English and Math (when possible)
    • Grade 11 MCR3U1 – Functions (with the pre-IB class if possible)
    • Grade 10 Academic Science and History
    • Grade 10 Academic French (if French is their option for Group 2 in IB)
    • Grade 10 Visual Art (if Art is their choice for Group 6 in IB)
      • recommendations include
        • an grade 11 science course in biology or physics if the student wants to take all 3 science areas before university
        • grade 10 careers and civics if the student is not sure about remaining in the full IB Diploma Program
