Student Council Initiative

Good Morning Everyone,

For the first time in many years Adelaide Hoodless has a student elected Student Council.  The Student Council has been important in creating and promoting many student based initiatives including spirit days and the Remembrance Day virtual assembly.  The Student Council is an important part of honouring student voice and for giving them ownership over their experiences. They are currently creating a presentation focusing on digital citizenship and responsible use of technology.

The Student Council was very excited to do something to celebrate the conclusion of our first four months of school.  For the first time in almost two years, things have felt  almost normal.  The Student Council wanted to run a Candy Gram campaign to allow classmates to share good thoughts and kind words of encouragement with each other.

A few caregivers have raised concerns regarding how this campaign may exclude students and be damaging to self-esteem.  I thank people for feeling for comfortable in raising their concerns with me in such a respectful manner.

I have connected with the teacher advisor for Student Council and we will convene the Student Council on Monday to share the concerns and to either re-work or cancel the initiative.

Thank you again and have a wonderful weekend.

Nanci Simpson – Principal
