Operational Review Report

As part of its plan to promote a strong, vibrant, publicly funded education system, the Ministry of Education is conducting Operational Reviews on school boards across the province. The goal is to enhance management capacity within school boards by encouraging good stewardship of public resources and by the leveraging and sharing of best practices. By adopting these practices, school boards ensure they are aligned to support the government’s highest priority: student achievement.

The Operational Review Team looked at four functional areas: Governance and School Board Administration; Human Resource Management and School Staffing/Allocation; Financial Management; and School Operations and Facilities Management. The review also made recommendations on opportunities for improvement.

We are pleased to say that Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board was found to be a well-managed board by the Operational Review Team. The Board has adopted a significant number of the leading practices outlined by the province. As a Board, we are committed to seeking opportunities for continual improvement and take our mission of helping all our students succeed very seriously.
